Wooden dining tables on the other hand have the practicality of being able to add a leaf in the center and expand to hold more food and seat more guests. Many tables of this type come with up to three extra leaves to increase its versatility. The durability of wood also is a deciding factor over glass as these will chip and break less over time.
Of course these are not the only sources of moisture that might affect dining room tables. Often the problem comes directly from water which is built on to the table surface or which comes from setting down glasses without any protecting coaster. This leads to the white rings that so many people despair of when they see them appear on their dining tables. Like the cracks that appear because of lower levels of moisture, this does nothing to impact the inherent strength of the wood, but is not pleasing to the eye.
They are also much heavier than the wooden tables and are not extendable to serve more guests. This gets them less practical if you want to entertain big groups of people in your home. The look they add to the dining room is very unique overall though.
